Gerald Manahan

  Garald F. Manahan, 51, Delphi Community High School principal since 1969, died of an apparent heart attack Monday, January 14, 1985, at 2:27 a.m. in the emergency room of St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette.
  Born August 12, 1933, in Lee County, Ill., his parents were Euil and Myra Wells Manahan.  His marriage Feb. 12, 1955 was to Annette Leisure in Bloomington.  She survives.  His father died January 4 of this year.
  From 1965 to 1969 he was principal of Taylor High School in Howard County.  During 1964-65 he served as athletic director and assistant principal of Western High School in Howard County.  From 1955 to 1964 he was a varsity basketball coach for Sharpsville High School along with teaching mathematics and physical education.
  A 1951 graduate of Paw Paw High School in Paw Paw, Ill., he received his bachelors degree from Indiana University in 1955 and masters degree in school administration in 1964 from Ball State University.
  Mr. Manahan attended the Delphi United Methodist Church and was a member of Indiana State Teachers Association, National Education Association and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
  Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Kathlee C.) Kirpach, New Castle, Wyoming; two sons, Patrick of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Michael E., at home; two sisters, Audra Shoemaker, Colorado Springs and Patsy Youssi, Rockford, Ill.; one brother, Dr. Ronald E. Manahan of Warsaw and two grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
  Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Delphi United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Ashley officiating.  Burial will be in IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg.  Friends will be received at Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, today from 6 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service in the church.
  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Garald F. Manahan Memorial Fund at Delphi Community High School.
