James Harter

James L. Harter, 21, Rt. 1, Camden, died August 3, 1986, in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. He was injured in an auto accident at 4 a.m. Sunday. He was born April 28, 1965, in Lafayette, to Robert E. “Gene” and Doris Jeane Oyler Harter. Harter was a 1983 graduate of Delphi Community High School, and a 1984 graduate of Lincoln Technical Institute, Indianapolis. He was employed as a mechanic and electrician for Henry Miller and Sons Electricians, Camden. He attended Lower Deer Creek Church of the brethren. Surviving with his parents are two brothers, Jeffrey Lynn and John Lee Halter both of Rt. 1, Camden; two sisters, Karen Stevens of Michigan City and Katherine Forgey of Rt. 1, Walton:; the maternal grandparent, Mr. and Mrs. Carey Oyler of Flora. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Lower Deer Creek Church of the Brethren with Pastor Opal Reiff officiating. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora.

Phil Johns (1983)

Most people at school didn't realize it, but James and I were distant relatives.  I always found James to be kind and he usually had a smile on his face.

I spoke with his mother recently at a family reunion and could tell she misses him dearly.  May God bless her as she continues to mourn the loss of her son.
