Marla Yates

  Marla J. Yates, 53, of 118 Water St., Delphi, died at 10:25 a.m. on Aug. 17, 2005, at St. Anthony Health Care in Lafayette from cancer.
  Born in Logansport on June 21, 1953, she was the daughter of Charles W. and Phyllis J. Connelly Yates.  She was a 1970 graduate of Delphi Community High School and a 1971 graduate of Lafayette Beauty Academy.
  Miss Yates had been employed at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi, in the housekeeping and laundry departments.  She was a licensed cosmetologist.
  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Delphi.
  Miss Yates enjoyed reading, writing to her pen pals and visiting residents at St. Elizabeth Healthcare.
  Surviving are her father and stepmother, Wayne and Juanita Yates of Camden; a sister, Nancy Hartman Hohn of Campbellsville, Ky.; a brother, Brad Yates (wife: Diana) of Lafayette; a stepbrother, Russell Padgett (wife: Christy) of Camden; two stepsisters, Sue Kern (husband: Garry) of Lebanon and Jane Goodpaster (husband: Bob) of North Vernon; a nephew, Christian Yates of Lafayette; three nieces, Nicole Hartman-Young (husband: Gary) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jaime Seals (husband: James) and Sara Hartman, both of Campbellsville, Ky.; and a great-nephew, Gage Seals of Campbellsville, Ky.
  She was preceded in death by her mother.
  Graveside services were Saturday at Masonic Cemetery in Delphi.  Davidson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
  Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or American Cancer Society.
