Virgil Butcher

Virgil L. Butcher of Delphi, passed away on December 12, 2015 at his home. Virgil was born to the late Virgil L. Butcher Sr. and Violet M. (Goodnight) Butcher in Tipton, Indiana. He was a 1972 graduate of Delphi Community High School.

He married Helen Walker on October 26, 1974 at the Pittsburg Missionary Baptist Church. Helen preceded him in May 2011.

He served in the US Army from 1975-1977.

Mr. Butcher had worked as a panel saw operator at Peters Revington and an Asst. Grocery Manager at Dave's IGA & Hardware before his retirement.

Mr. Butcher was a member of the Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Delphi.

Virgil enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing the guitar and playing golf.

He is survived by his fiancée, Christine Worthington of Brookston; brother, Don Butcher (Pat) of Delphi; sisters: Candace Butcher of Delphi, Cynthia Kempf of Lafayette and Joyceen Pelphrey (Charles) of Roann; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and wife.

Visitation will be at the Davidson Funeral Home in Delphi from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 and one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the Grace Missionary Baptist Church. Services will be at the Grace Missionary Baptist Church, Delphi at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015. Pastors Mark Ramey and Algie VanWinkle officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Run Cemetery, rural Carroll County with Military Graveside Rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard.
