David Caldwell - Class Of 1974

David Caldwell

David Wayne Caldwell, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 31, at the age of 65.
Dave was born on April 22, 1956, and grew up in Camden, Indiana, graduating from Delphi Community High School.
After moving to Fort Myers, he worked in construction across Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel and Captiva before joining the USPS as a mail carrier in 1995. As he had for the past 20 years, he enjoyed working his mail route through The Vines and Belle Lago communities until the week before his passing.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Lee and Sarah Jane Engle Caldwell; and his brother, Jerry.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Tricia and Kenny (Kelsey); grandson, William David; sister, Diana (Ed) Zimpleman; brother, Tom; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dave enjoyed driving all over, including tours through at least 37 states, but particularly loved roaming the Blue Ridge Parkway and visiting family in Indiana. He was a skilled woodworker like his father before him and great caretaker of his yard-park. He was a medical marvel who persevered through all things, and he and his family remained incredibly thankful to his team of doctors over the years. Dave was also a devoted fan of jigsaw puzzles, The Blues Brothers, garage parties, purchasing milk and his grandson, Sir William. He was a good Pa, but will foremost be remembered as a master comedian because that was his greatest wish.
A private service will be held by family at a later date.
