Steven P. McCarty, 70, of Delphi, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 6, 2026, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born June 3, 1956, in Logansport, Indiana to the late Richard P. and Eileen Blohm McCarty. He graduated from Delphi Community High School in 1974. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature including fishing, hunting mushrooms, arrowhead hunting as well as outdoor work. He took pride in gardening and had a good knowledge of history. He dearly loved his nieces and nephews and enjoyed the time they all spent together. He also loved his cat that was his buddy.

He had several occupations including construction work and work as a metal fabricator. He previously attended the First Brethren Church of Flora and was a caretaker there. He was also a caretaker of his mother in later years. He was a devout Christian and a member of the Messianic Missionary Jewish Christian Organization.

Steve is survived by his brother Mark G. (Susan) McCarty of Delphi, and his sister Deborah (Robert) Rush also of Delphi; nephews, Greg (Lisa) Rush of Camden, and Aaron (Christi) Rush of Macy; nieces, Shannon Fenstermaker of New Mexico, Aubrey McCarty of New Mexico and Amanda McCarty of Indianapolis. He also had several great-nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at Burrows Cemetery. Arrangements are pending. Cree Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family online at creefuneralhome.com.
