Teresa Barnett - Class Of 1975

Teresa Barnett

Teresa A. Barnett, 19, of Delphi was killed at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 1977, when she was thrown from a horse.
She and Cynthia MacIntire, who lived together in Delmain Apartments at Delphi, were riding on Sleeth Road two and a half miles east of U.S. 421 in Tippecanoe Township and had started back to the nearby home of Miss Barnett's parents when her spirited horse bolted to return home and she fell off.
Miss MacIntire stopped an unidentified motorist who she asked to remain at the scene at the curve in the road while she went for parents of the victim and other help.
Carroll County Coroner James Sullivan said Miss Barnett suffered multiple injuries and died of a broken neck at the scene.
Miss Barnett was born October 22, 1957, in Lafayette, the daughter of John L. and Connie Macke Barnett.  A 1975 graduate of Delphi Community High School, she was employed at CTS Electronics at Lafayette.  She formerly worked as a check out clerk at Brosman's I.G.A. in West Delphi.  She had attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing.
Surviving with her parents who reside on Rt. 1, Delphi, are three sisters, Annette, Reine and Celia, all at home and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Bernice Greenwalt, Delphi.

It was very sad when she passed. She was riding a horse, something spooked the horse, and it dragged her down the pavement. I think of her often.
