Todd Shaffer

Todd Michael Shaffer, 52, of Flora, died at 11:50 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010, at his home. He had been ill for two years.

 Born Aug. 24, 1957, in Lafayette, he was the son of Harry "Herb" Shaffer Jr. of Delphi and the late Beverlee Morrison Shaffer. He graduated from Delphi Community High School in 1975.

His married Cheryl A. Johnson on March 5, 1977, in Flora, and she survives.

Mr. Shaffer farmed most of his life, most recently with Stan Long. He had done seasonal work with Pioneer Seeds and delivered seed for Heritage Diener Seeds of Flora.

He was a member of Zion Citizens Cemetery Board and volunteered with local 4-H members, assisting with their livestock.

Surviving with his wife and father are a son, Chad M. Shaffer of Bringhurst; a daughter, Tori A. Shaffer of Lafayette; two brothers, Mark D. Shaffer (wife: Sue) of Avon, and Scott A. Shaffer (wife: Brenda) of Kingwood, Texas.

Also surviving are 2 grandsons, Logan Shaffer and Clayton Shaffer. Farming was his love and his passion, working on the land and with livestock. He waged a courageous two-year battle with his illness.
