Gary Boyles

  Gary L. Boyles, 40, of Galveston, formerly of Delphi, died at 1:01 a.m. Dec. 23, 1999, in St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo.
  Born Feb. 24, 1959, in Lafayette, he was the son of Stanley and Thelma Rodgers Boyles.  His marriage was on Dec. 30, 1989, in Monticello, to Joelene M. Herda, who survives.
  He was a 1977 graduate of Delphi Community High School and a 1982 graduate of Purdue University, where he majored in agricultural economics.
  Mr. Boyles was a detective sergeant with the Indiana State Police at the Peru post for 10 years.  He also served at the Lafayette post for five years.  He was a dispatcher at the Carroll County Sheriff's Department while attending Purdue.
  He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and as chairman of the properties committee.  He also was a member of the Indiana State Police Alliance.
  He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
  Also surviving are one son, Kyle M. Boyles, at home; his mother and stepfather, Thelma and Dale Douglass of Delphi; maternal grandfather, Glenn H. Rodgers, and paternal grandmother, Thelma Hufford, both of Delphi.  He was preceded in death by his father, maternal grandmother and paternal grandfather.
  Services were Monday at Bible Baptist Church, Kokomo, with Pastor John Tangman and Pastor E. Dean Windhorn officiating.  Horn-Davidson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
  Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church Building Fund.
