Harold Peacock

Harold Elmo Peacock, 63, of Lafayette, IN, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 after a long, challenging fight with several medical illnesses. He was born on November 11, 1957 in Lafayette, Indiana to Harold Edgar and Phyllis (Burgess) Peacock. Harold graduated from Delphi High School in 1977. He served his country in the United States Army.

On July 25, 1981, he married Melissa Mitchell at Bethany Presbyterian Church.

Harold began his career as a meat cutter for Payless, Marsh in West Lafayette and continued with Target and Sam’s Club in their meat departments. He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church and their Euchre Club. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.

Harold enjoyed movies, billiards, going to car shows, and listening to music. He also enjoyed gardening and grew his own grapes that he turned into jelly. Harold collected many tools over the years and liked tinkering and fixing things, especially cars. He loved telling a good joke and was an excellent story teller.

Surviving are his wife, Melissa; his daughters, Adrian (Greg) Peacock- Downey of Lafayette and Claire (Jeffrey) Peacock-Rohr of Evansville; his sister, Wanda (Larry) Irvin of Linden; his fur grandbabies, Gilbert, Jack, Dooey, and Boiler; his mother and father-in law, Cliff and Pat Mitchell of Lafayette; his brothers-in law, Bob (Jo) Mitchell of Romney and Norm Mitchell of Attica; stepsister, Nora Bogan of Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Harold and Wilma Peacock; his mother, Phyllis Alavardo; his sister, Kathy; brother-in-law, Tom; stepbrother, Joe; and nephew, Corey.

Harold’s family wishes to thank the organ donors for extending his time with them.

A Service will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 4 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church, Lafayette with Pastor Kevin Bowers officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the church.
