Charles Shank III

 Charles W. "Bift" Shank III, 43, of Indianapolis, died unexpectedly at 10 a.m. on Feb. 5, 2004.
  Born in Lafayette on April 29, 1960, he was the son of Charles W. "Bill" Jr. and Shirley Lentner Shank.  He graduated from Delphi High School in 1978, and received his CDL driving certification from Schneider National Truck Driving School.
  He worked for SYSCO Foods in Indianapolis for several years, in food supply delivery.
  He was baptized and formerly attended First Presbyterian Church of Delphi.
  He volunteered at Indianapolis Salvation Army Soup Kitchen for several Thanksgiving holidays, helping serve the needy.
  He was an avid NASCAR racing fan, especially of Terry Labonte.  He attended many races and enjoyed collecting memorabilia.
  Surviving are his father and stepmother, Charles "Bill" Jr. and Kathy Shank of Delphi; his mother and stepfather, Shirley and Jim Wilson of Lafayette; a sister, Jami Riley of Durham, N.C.; a half brother, Aaron Wilson of Lafayette; grandparents, Alice A. Shank of Delphi and Robert and Georgia Lentner of Lafayette; and a step grandmother, Naomi Butcher of Flora.
  He was preceded in death by a sister.
  Services were Feb. 9 at Abbott Funeral Home, with burial at Masonic Cemetery in Delphi.
  Memorials may be made to Salvation Army.
