James Smith

  James E. "Jim" Smith, 44, of Flora, died at 7:45 a.m. on Aug. 18, 2004, due to injuries sustained in an auto accident at SR 18 and U.S., Hwy. 42, south of Delphi.
  Born in Lafayette, on Feb. 20, 1960, he was the son of Charles and Carol Jones Smith.  He was an 1978 graduate of Delphi Community High School.
  His marriage was to Delores L. "Dee" Norris, in Delphi, on April 18, 1981, and she survives.
  Mr. Smith worked for Red Lobster restaurant in Lafayette, for three years, and previously at Wabash Center in Lafayette, for nine years.
  He enjoyed fishing and golf.
  Surviving with his wife are his parents of Camden; three sons, Jon C. Smith at home.  Bruce L. Smith and James E. Smith II, both of Indiana; two brothers, Mike Smith (wife: Diane) of Urbana, Ohio, and Gray L. Smith of Camden; two sisters, Rebecca Knott (husband: Bob) of Flora, and Elizabeth Goodner (husband: Steven) of Tullahoma, Tenn.; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Eliza Norris of Attica.
  Services were Aug. 21 at Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi, with private family disposition of his ashes.
  Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Delphi.  Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
