Robert (Bob) Earl Korb was born on July 14, 1936, in Lafayette, Indiana. His mother, Pearl Watson Korb, raised Bob and his brother John. While Bob was in high school, his mother took a teaching job in Delphi Indiana where Bob met his future wife, Caroline Ann Johnson. After high school, Bob attended Purdue University on an Army ROTC scholarship, earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering which launched his career as a successful professional. After college he and Caroline reconnected and married on December 14, 1958. They were blessed with three children, Laura (Tim) Friedlein, Paul (Margie) Korb, and Steve Korb. Bob was happiest when his family was all together. He cherished all our family events, including birthday dinners, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, the annual Korb-Friedlein touch football games, Rams games, Purdue basketball games, billiard tournaments, piano recitals, band concerts, weddings, graduations, trips to the St. Louis Zoo and Symphony, as well as family vacations. Bob’s greatest desire in life was to have a family and be the good father he never had.
Bob is survived by his wife and children and four grandchildren, Beth (Dave) Harvitz, Jake Friedlein, John Paul (Madeline) Korb and Sam (Abbi) Korb, and four great-grandchildren, Addison, Aidan, Boaz, and Jezreel. Bob was the brother-in-law of Susan (Dick) Klepinger and the late Janet (John) Korb. He was uncle to Jack (Judy) Korb, Linda Korb, Lisa Freestone and Scott (Heather) Klepinger. As the family grows and the celebrations continue, Bob will be dearly missed. We are comforted by our faith and our family and the hope that Bob now knows the love of a father, our Father in heaven.
All services will be held on 4-29-26 at St. Joseph Cottleville Catholic Church with visitation in the gathering area of the church at 10:00 AM, a memorial Mass at 11:00 AM, interment of ashes with military honors immediately following, and concluding with lunch in the parish hall.
