Jack Nape

Jack L. Nape, 85, of Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at his daughter’s home in Ohio with his family by his side.

He was born August 12, 1935, in Owasco, IN., to the late Lee Edward and Mildred Theodoshia (Tyrie) Nape.  He was a 1954 graduate from Delphi High School.  On June 5, 1981, he married Patricia Ann Johnson in Lafayette and she preceded him in death on June 26, 2018. Jack loved his work as a fireman primarily at Station #7 and retired from the Lafayette Fire Department after many years of faithful service to this community. He was a member of the International Association of Firefighters and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.  He also was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan, loved Purdue Basketball, playing euchre, and mushroom hunting. He loved cars and of course FOOD! He will be missed so much by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his 3 children, daughter, Christina Timmons and son, Scott Nape, both of Lafayette, and daughter, Janell (Nape) Smith (Husband Randall) of Huber Heights, Ohio; 8 grandchildren, Ashley Kay (Benham) Grott (Husband Samuel), Amber Nicole Nape (Husband Dorian Avila), Anthony Lee Nape, David Anthony Smith (Wife Emily), Stephanie Nicole (Smith) Long (Husband Dakota), Stacey Nicole (Smith) Jennings (Husband Justin), Alexander Ray Smith, and Emily Nicole Smith; 10 great-grandchildren, Collin Grott, Emma Grott, and Bailey Grott, Jayden Voyles, Ian Bradley Nape, Jacelynn Aella Nape, Aela Elizabeth Smith, Nicole Marie Smith, Annabelle Lynn Long, and Greyson Godric Long; and niece and nephew, Vicki Nape and Tracy Nape.

Along with his wife, Patricia and parents, Lee and Mildred, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Gene Nape and niece, Trena Joyce Nape.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, February 5, 2021 at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. Last alarm service at 7:00 pm

Service at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 6, 2021, Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette with Chaplain David Tate officiating.

Interment will follow at Rossville Cemetery in Rossville, IN.
