Jack Shepard

John A. "Jack" Shepard, 72, of Delphi, died unexpectedly at 10:40 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette. He was born Feb. 17, 1936, in Carroll County, to the late John W. and Helen Lathrope Shepard. He was a 1954 graduate of Delphi High School and a Navy veteran, serving four years on a ship in the Pacific. His marriage was to Doris L. Houser in Delphi on June 24, 1960, and she survives. He worked for Eli Lilly Co. in Lafayette for 25 years, lastly in the receiving warehouse, retiring in 1994. Mr. Shepard was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi and a life member of Delphi Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 9383. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his boat, camping, mushroom hunting and crossword puzzles. He and his wife resided in Sebastian, Fla., for 10 years, moving back to Delphi in 2004. Surviving with his wife are two sons, Mitchell W. Shepard and Kevin J. Shepard and grandsons, Justin, Matthew & Chris Shepard. He was preceded in death by one son, Bradley J. Shepard and one sister, Barbara.
