Sharon D. Gibbs, 62, of 311 W. Hanawalt St., Monticello, died at 1:30 a.m. June 25, 1999, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette, after a lengthy illness. Born March 9, 1937, in Monticello, she was the daughter of Lincoln and Frances Wert Buchanan. Her marriage was on May 11, 1933, in Dillon, S.C., to Paul W. Gibbs, who survives. She attended Delphi schools and lived in the Delphi and Monticello areas all her life. Mrs. Gibbs was a homemaker and a member of the Monticello Christian Church. Also surviving are three sons, Paul D. Gibbs of Yeoman, Michael W. Gibbs of Delphi, and David Gibbs of Monticello; a daughter, Sue Stem of Monticello; two brothers, Dean Buchanan of Arkansas and John Buchanan of Delphi; three sisters, Nancy Cook of Arizona, Barbara Humphrey of .Delphi, and Kathy Freeman of Camden; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, two brothers, and a grandson. Services were Monday at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello, with Rev. Donald Arterburn officiating. Burial was in Riverview IOOF Cemetery, Monticello.
