Linda Long (Nape)

Linda Lou Nape, 86, of Brookston, passed away at 6:47 a.m. Sunday, September 18, 2022 at her son’s home surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 6, 1936 in Ockley, Indiana to the late Walter Edward and Edyth Pearl (Reef) Long and was a 1955 graduate of Delphi Community High School. Linda would go on to graduate from Ivy Tech with a Licensed Practical Nursing degree and then later graduate from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Her marriage was to Jack Lee Nape on February 14, 1957 in Carroll County; they would later divorce. Linda worked as a nurse for Lafayette Home Hospital, the Indiana Veterans Home and Wabash Valley, ending a career in nursing in home healthcare throughout Indiana. She was a wonderful nurse who cared deeply about her patients and their families. When she was younger, Linda worked for Green Giant in Lafayette and at the local bank. A devoted Christian, Linda was a long-time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in West Lafayette. Linda was an avid reader, spending many days at the Brookston Library. She also enjoyed family history and genealogy, crossword puzzles and Canasta & Euchre. Most of all, Linda loved her family and grandchildren; she truly enjoyed spending time cooking for them. Linda also enjoyed western movies, classic movies, especially the big band musicals and playing her Nintendo, especially Tetris and Dr. Mario. Surviving are her children, Christina Timmons of Lafayette, Scott J. Nape of Lafayette and Janell Nape Smith (husband: Randall) of Huber Heights, Ohio. Linda cherished her grandchildren, Amber Nape, Ashley Grott, Anthony “Tony” Nape, David Smith, Stephanie Long, Stacey Jennings, Alexander Smith and Emily Smith; and her 11 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death with her parents is a sister, Helen Long Rhine and a brother, Ronald Long. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (3224 Jasper St. West Lafayette, IN 47906). Burial to follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora. Memorials may be made in her name to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or PhysioCare Hospice of West Lafayette.
