James Hodges - Class Of 1956

James Hodges

James “Bob” Robert Hodges, 83, of Panama City, Florida, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born January 28, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana and was a 1956 graduate of Delphi High School in Indiana. He married his high school sweetheart, Rita Sue Medley, and they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage together. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 28 years, earning his two-year college degree during that time. After retiring from the military, Bob still retained the heart to serve. He continued to serve his fellow man by working as head of operations for Heritage Apartments, as well as various nursing homes in the community. Bob was a Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge, in Indiana, for over 50 years. One of Bob's greatest loves was spending time with his children and grandchildren. It was not uncommon to find Bob and Rita in the stands, cheering at all of the ball games, meets, recitals, or sundry other activities that their grandkids were involved in. Many of the biggest smiles from Bob came during Christmas when his home was filled with his family. It was at these family gatherings in which Bob would engage in another of his great loves: telling stories.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Herman Hodges and Margaret Dowdell Hodges; son, Robert Hodges; sister, Donna Hodges Gardner; grandson, Cody White; and great-granddaughter Carrissa Ekstrom.
Those left to cherish Bob’s memory include his wife, Rita S. Hodges; daughters, Terri Chancey, Lisa Gebhardt (David), Tracy Allen (Barry), and Melissa Jacobs (Joey); thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Thomas Gardner.

A graveside service will take place at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Joey Jacobs officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Hodges, Ian Allen, Zachary Allen, Barry Allen, Joshua Brand, and Joey Jacobs
