Marvin "Duane" Smith, 76, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 6:50 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Central. Duane was born on April 15, 1938 in Carroll County, IN to the late Lester D. and Hazel (Fetterhoff) Smith. He was a 1956 graduate of Delphi High School, and attended Kansas State Jr. College, and Purdue University. On February 18, 1961, he married Martha "Marty" Collins, and she survives. Duane worked for Alcoa for 37 years before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, was a member of the Moose Lodge and Foresters, and loved trains.

Surviving along with his wife are 3 sons, Jeff W. (wife: Julie) Smith of Lafayette, Brian K. (wife: Sheri) Smith of Lafayette, and Tony (wife: Shana) Smith of West Lafayette. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by one sister, Florence Pearson, and four brothers, Robert, Max, Leroy, and Leon Smith.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at Simplicity Funeral Care with Celebrant Carla Ellis officiating.
