Columbia - SSGT Kenneth Wayne Stark, US Army (Ret.), 78, of Columbia died Tuesday, December 27, 2016. Born in Delphi, Indiana on April 9, 1938, he was a son of the late Vernia Young Stark and Merle Sebring. Mr. Stark was retired from the US Army having served in the Vietnam War. He was awarded several medals to include the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and Bronze Star Medal. SSGT Stark was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Connie Ann Gerbens Stark; sons, Michael L. Stark, Phillip D. Stark (Charmaine), Robert A. Stark (Iolanda) and Gregory A Stark (Melissia); eleven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stark and Alice Stark; and a brother, Donald Stark. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters; a granddaughter, Riesia Stark; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Lynn Cooper Stark.

The graveside service for SSGT Stark will be held 9:30 o'clock at Fort Jackson National Cemetery on Monday, January 2, 2017. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.Memories and condolences may be shared at ShivesFuneralHome.com.
