Bill Harris

Bill Harris, age 73, of North Ridgeville, who loved being a Marine, passed away from effects of Agent Orange on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland.
He was born in Plymouth, Indiana and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1983, moving from Elyria.
Bill served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.
He worked as an insurance agent at Allstate Insurance Company, retiring in 2004.
He was a member of the Sertoma Club, Masonic Lodge in North Olmsted, VFW Post 9871 in North Ridgeville and the American Legion in Elyria.
He loved to travel, especially to the Bahamas, fish and was also an avid reader. He enjoyed cooking so much, that he wrote a cookbook.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Elaine (nee Coffin); children, Greg Harris, Gretta Harris, Jeff (Kim) Harris, Darryl (Vickie) Scheckel, Kirk (Cheryl) Scheckel; grandchildren, Kasey, Zack, Jake, Lindsey, Alex, Raquel and Amber; great- grandchild, Kinsley and sister, Betty (Clyde). He was a wonderful brother-in-law and uncle to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Deloris (nee Mitchel) Harris.
Friends may call Friday from 2PM until the time of Memorial Service at 3:30PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Rev. Chuck Behrens will officiate.
