Robert E. Willburn, age 80, passed away August 31, 2025 at his home in Rochester, Indiana surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Robert & Dorothy Wilburn, siblings and spouses Rev. Ron & Beatrice Harshman, Sam & Roberta Hoover, George & Patricia Beehler & Jane Fry; and great grandchildren Sidney Forester, IV and Cassius Ryder. Robert grew up as the youngest of 5 children and lived in multiple locations in Indiana following his father’s ministry and getting away with more than he should as the “PK”. He settled with his wife and two children in Rochester, Indiana to work at Burton Mechanical and then successfully pursued his own General Contracting business performing public works projects throughout Northern Indiana. Robert was known for his attention to detail and doing things right. He also served as a board member at First National Bank. He later enjoyed farming, raising & showing cattle. He had a knack for changing the words to popular songs in fun, practical jokes when least expected and could weave a story to share that would captivate. In Church or in his truck he had a voice that could carry a tune and harmony with ease. He always sought to help others reach their potential and led by example in his work. Even during chemo treatments he sought to share the Lord’s strength & support to others and was so thankful for the caring nurses & the special doctor who was also a friend. Robert is survived by and will be dearly missed by his wife Nancy of 61 years and daughters Michelle and Kimberly. He leaves behind grandchildren Alexandria, Nickolas, Bret, Alysha and Courtney, who served as his driver to out of state chemo and selflessly helped in any way she could; and great grandchildren; Hudson & Eloise, Amelia & Emily, and Noah Robert, his namesake and travel buddy.
In memory of Robert, please donate blood for those in need and per Robert, “Life is short – Don’t waste it.”
