DELPHI -- Derek Lee Smith, 49, a former resident of Delphi and Monticello, died Wednesday, June 22, at his home in Bayonet Point, Fla.

Born Dec. 15, 1961, he was the son of of the late Betty Lou Smith. A 1980 graduate of Delphi Community High School, he was a self-employed builder.

He is survived by his wife, Pam Yacobelli; two stepdaughters, Melissa Yacobelli and Nichole Neilson (husband: Chris), both of Hudson, Fla.; a brother, Darrell of Monticello; and a sister, Leveda of Logansport.

Services were Saturday, June 25, in Florida.

Also surviving are 3 grandchildren; a niece, Jolene, Monticello; and a nephew, David, U.S. Air Force. Preceded in death by 1 brother, David Glenn. Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
