Marilyn Fisher (Mitchell)

Marilyn Jane Fisher Mitchell, age 70, of Monticello, formerly of Delphi, went to be with the Lord at her daughter’s home on Saturday, March 3, 2012. Born December 25, 1941 in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late John Elmer and Mary Madeline Hicks Fisher. Marilyn was raised in the Delphi area and graduated from Delphi High School in 1960. Marilyn married Dwight “Muggs” Mitchell on September 3, 1961 at the Delphi Presbyterian Church and he survives. For over 20 years, she and her husband were in the restaurant business, owning and operating the Bobber and Oink in Delphi, Mitchell’s Steak and Seafood in Pittsburg, and Mitchell’s at the Club at the Carroll County Country Club. She had also worked as a secretary for Dr. Baker and Dr. Petry in Delphi for several years, as a teller at the former Union Bank and Trust for four years, and at Fairfield Manufacturing in Lafayette. Marilyn was of the Methodist faith and a member of Psi Iota Xi Women’s Social Sorority. She adored her children and grandchildren and loved to attend their events. Marilyn was the most wonderful, caring and loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend to everyone. She enjoyed playing Keno and traveling to Las Vegas. Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Teresa Lynn Sullivan (companion: Randy Kesling) and Patricia Jane Dunbar (husband, Carey) both of Delphi; and two sisters, Carolyn Dillman of Yeoman and Winter Haven, FL and Sharon Sumpter of South Bend. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Bryan Dunbar of Orlando, FL, Stephanie L. Mills (husband, Josh) of Columbus, OH, Lindsey M. Sullivan of Peoria, IL, and Cory M. Dunbar of Delphi and two great-grandchildren: Cason R. and Ava Lynn Mills. Friends will be received from 12 p.m. until the service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Delphi United Methodist Church, 1796 North U.S. Hwy 421, with Pastor Todd Ladd and Bonnie Shoaf officiating. Interment to follow at I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens in Pittsburg. Following the interment, a dinner for friends and family will be held at the Delphi United Methodist Church.
