.jpeg) Richard L. Herr, 80, of DeLand, Florida, passed away on April 18th, 2023, with family by his side. He was born in Delphi, Indiana to the late Maurice and Hazel Herr.
Richard is survived by his wife Kerry Bower-Herr (DeLand, FL), sons Hunter Herr (Austin, TX), Patrick Herr / Cindy (Logansport, IN), daughter Kimberley Herr Miller (Logansport, IN), sisters Cora Ware / Larry (Fort Myers, FL), Cheryl Beard (Lafayette, IN), brother Leonard Herr / Rita (Lafayette, IN), several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Richard attended Delphi High School where he excelled in basketball and golf. He was a former Golf Professional at Logansport Country Club and Rolling Hills Golf Course. After moving to Florida, he became a “Legend” in the Golfing World for his work as a Golf Course Superintendent at Jupiter Hills Golf Club from 1980-1991. In this role, he and George Fazio successfully perfected the art of growing bent grass greens year-round, despite the Florida heat.
He was a kind and loving father, a caring and supportive husband, and a devout friend and coworker to those who had the pleasure of meeting him.
Richard was a truly special person who made a positive impact on countless lives. He will be forever missed by friends and family but the impression he left on those around him will live on for decades. Until we meet again.
A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held on a date to be determined.
