
Richard Earl Kelley, 83, of Delphi, died at home on January 11, 2025, and went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born on November 8,1941 in Idaville, Indiana to the late Francis (Dee) & Cora Kelley Myers. He was raised in the Delphi area and graduated from Delphi High School in 1960.
Upon his high school graduation, he served his country by joining the United States Marine Corp. While in the Marine Corp, he met his wife, Lou Ella Hays. They were married on June 9,1962 in Yuma, AZ. He was honorably discharged in 1964
He spent the majority of his life living in Delphi and working at Gerber Industries in Delphi until they closed.
He was a member and former trustee of Grace Community Baptist Church in Monticello, Indiana.
He loved being around his family, his church and was a devoted Chicago White Sox fan.
He is survived by his wife Lou Ella Kelley of Delphi, son Patrick (Kim) Kelley of Delphi, daughter Pamela (Ralph) Benedict of Flora, sister Patricia (Wayne) Smith of Grand Junction, CO, brother Tim (Kym) Kelley of Greenfield, IN, granddaughter Erin (Ryan) McEntire of Rossville, grandson Jared (Hannah) Kelley of Delphi, grandson Matthew Sammons of Whitestown, granddaughter Danielle (Wesley) Schuiteman of Marion and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother (Steve) and sister-in-law (Cathie).
Services: Visitation will be Thursday from 11am until his funeral service at 1pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Pastor John DeKrytr from Grace Community Baptist Church in Monticello officiating, private family burial will be at IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg.
