James Coghill - Class Of 1961 VIEW PROFILE

James Dale "Jim" Coghill, 67, of Farmington, N.M., died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at his residence.  He had been in ill health the past four years and critical for one month.

He was born April 28, 1943, in Tippecanoe County, to Mary Catherine Logan Barnaby and the late Albert Coghill.  He had lived in Farmington for 30 years and was a former Delphi resident.

His marriage was to Suzanne Nix in Lafayette on Dec. 18, 1973 and she survives.

Mr. Coghill was a 1961 graduate of Delphi High School and a Marine Corps veteran.  He worked for the City of Farmington, bidding projects relating to sidewalks and wastewater construction projects.  He enjoyed martial arts and became an instructor.  He loved horses, especially training them.  He enjoyed collecting knives and figurines, restoring and reselling classic cars, and the culture of New Mexico.  He loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Suzanne Coghill of Farmington; a son, Branson Coghill (wife: Lara) of Farmington; his mother, Mary Catherine "Tootie" Barnaby of Delphi; and a sister, Pat Duff (husband: Bob) of Delphi.

Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Raymond Ward of Delphi; 2 grandchildren, Jenny and Michael Coghill; nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by a sister, Jan Ward.

Firends may call Saturday from 10 a.m. until his memorial service at 12 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home, Dephi, Rev. Bill McLean officiating.  Burial Morning Heights Cemetery, Delphi, with military rites by Delphi & Camden American Legion, and Delphi VFW.  Memorial contributions to Relay for Life, c/o First Presbyterian Church in Delphi, 213 S.
