Nancy Cheeseman (Simmons) - Class Of 1963

Nancy L. Cheesman Simmons, 66, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her creator, Monday, Jan 9, 2012 at 10:40pm, at Milner Community Healthcare, Rossville. She had been a resident there since Dec. 5, 2011, and in failing health.  She lived at 307 W. Franklin St., Delphi, and was married to Duane L. Simmons in Pittsburg, IN; on June 23, 1963, and he survives. She was born Apr. 2, 1945 in Carroll Co., IN, to the late Walter & Marybelle Byrd Cheesman, raised by Louis & Opal Dunn. She was a 1963 graduate of Delphi High School, and a homemaker. She was a member of the Living Faith Church of the Brethren near Flora, where she sang in the choir, and was involved with the woman's fellowship. While living in Hawaii, she was actively involved with the Special Olympics Organization. She was a member of the Westside flower club, enjoyed playing Bunko, reading, cooking, shopping with her family, and euchre card games.

Surviving: Husband: Duane L. Simmons, Delphi; Daughters: Deborah & Tim Irelan, Delphi, Twins: Deanne L. Hess, Monon, Diane K. Jones, Monon; Son: Brian K. Simmons, Delphi; Sister: Roberta Robson, Lafayette; Brother: Louis & Carol Dunn of Texas; Sister-in- law: Nancy & Richard Feaster Lafayette; Grandchildren: Megan; Colton; Hannah; Patrick; Kristina; Michael; Thomas; Great granddaughter: Alyssa. Preceded in death by a son in law-Russell; a sister.

Services: Friends may call Friday 5-8pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. Service there Saturday 1030am, Pastor Jeff Tomson officiating. Burial at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens-West Lafayette.
