Gene Francis Humbarger, 79, of Delphi, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. Gene was born to the late Francis and Ruth “Maxine” (Ward) Humbarger, on April 18, 1945, in Logansport.
Gene married the love of his life Judy (Landes) Humbarger on November 6, 1964 at First Brethren Church Flora, they just celebrated 60 years of marriage together.
Gene graduated from Delphi High School in 1963. Gene retired from Payless in Lafayette after 25 years of service, and eventually retiring again from Walmart after 10 years. Gene had a passion for antique tractors. He was an avid collector and he enjoyed working on them and showing them off in parades and shows. Judy and Gene enjoyed wintering in Fort Myers, Florida together where Gene served as the Commodore of the Orange Harbor Boat Club. Gene was also a life long member of First Presbyterian Church in Delphi.
Surviving Gene include his loving wife; Judy Humbarger, children; Jeff (Jamie) Humbarger, Ginger (Bryan) Wright, Gaye Rose, Greg (Alishia) Humbarger, brother; Dee (Sondra) Humbarger, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service honoring the life of Gene will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 1 pm, with Pastor Leon Hessong officiating, located at Davidson-Shirey Funeral Home, 121 North Union Street, Delphi. Friends may visit with the family from 11 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora.
