John Alan Trent, 80, of Kokomo, formerly of Delphi, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 9, 2025. John was born on December 19, 1944 in Lafayette to the late James and Ruby (Thompson) Trent.
On April 12, 1969, John married the love of his life; Kay Ann (Guckien) Trent at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi.
John graduated from Delphi High School and later joined the United States Air Force. John was awarded several medals for his dedication and sacrifice and he eventually earned the rank of sergeant. After retiring from the military, John attended broadcasting school in Chicago and eventually starting working at a radio station as a news reporter and eventually working his way up to general manager of five different radio stations.
In his free time John enjoyed playing golf, and spending time with his family. John met many friends and will always be remembered for having a witty sense of humor and for his contagious smile.
Surviving John include his loving wife; Kay Trent, a son; Doug (Christy) Trent, daughter; Kellie Trent, grandchildren; Chloe Trent, and Dane Trent
John was preceded in death by a brother; James Trent, and a sister; Meon (Trent) Myers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 11 am, located at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi, 207 N Washington St, with Father Chris Miller the celebrant. Friends may visit with the family the evening before on Sunday, July 13, 2025, located at Shirey Funeral Home, 121 N Union St, Delphi, beginning at 4 pm. A Rosary will be offered at 3:30 pm. A private family burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery where Military Rites will be performed.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions honoring the life of John may be made to Paradigm Health Kokomo for their walk to cure Alzheimer’s.
