Michael Fife

Michael E. Fife, 62, of Delphi, died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at Home Hospital in Lafayette.

Born July 13, 1946, in Omaha, Neb., he was the son of the late Paul E. and Mary Ann Welch Fife. He graduated from Delphi High School in 1964. On March 9, 1968, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Lafayette, he married Linda Kubicek, who survives.

Mr. Fife was a certified life insurance underwriter and a certified financial planner, series 6, 6.3 and 7.

He had retired as an agent and county manager for Farm Bureau after 33 years of service.

He was the first vice president of DuPont & Associates and was a Fielders Choice Seed consultant.

He was a Navy First Class Petty Officer serving as a communications technician from 1967 to 1972. He was stationed in Alaska, Maine and Panama.

Mr. Fife was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was active in the Parish Council as well as numerous church functions. He enjoyed helping with various breakfasts and dinners at the church.

He was a member of Knights of Columbus, serving as past Grand Knight and District 17 deputy. He enjoyed helping with the Knights of Columbus' Tootsie Roll Drive for Muscular Dystrophy.

He was also a member of the Lions Club in Camden, serving as past president; a member of Camden American Legion, Toastmasters International, Carroll County Sheriff's Merit Board, the National Association of Life Insurance Underwriters, and the Delphi Airport Board, serving as president and vice president.

He enjoyed flying and participating in community activities.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Michelle Miller (husband: Jim) of Indianapolis, Amy Fife of Boston, Mass., and Carrie Fife of Indianapolis; five sons, Timothy Fife (wife: Jody) in the U.S. Navy stationed at Norfolk, Va., Matthew Fife of Portland, Ore., Andrew Fife of West Lafayette, Peter Fife and Patrick Fife, both of Delphi; a sister, Madonna Kay Fletcher of Saybrook, Ill.; a brother, Steven Fife (wife: Julie) of Columbus, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Chloe and Allie Miller, Sam Fife and Rebecca Handy.

Preceding him in death were his sisters, Patricia Ann Coplen and Barbara Jean Fife.
