Robert Cowen

Robert T. "Bob" "Pappy" Cowen of Lafayette passed away suddenly of a heart attack at his residence Wednesday, September 5, 2012, Born January 23, 1947, in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Raymond R. and Mildred F. (Trapp) Cowen. He was raised in Ockley, but lived most of his in Lafayette. He graduated from Delphi High School in 1965. He received a HVAC Degree from Ivy Tech. Pappy was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam conflict from 1968-1972 stationed at Grissom Air Force Base, Okinawa, Japan and Guam.

Pappy was an ALCOA retiree and most recently worked at Lafayette Auto Supply part-time. He was a longtime member of ABOLAFIA and ABATE and loved going on many benefit rides. He loved motorcycles, hunting and camping. When his children were younger he coached sports and was active in boy scouts. He truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving is his daughter, Lee Ann (husband Mike) Tate of Forest and son, Brad (wife Michelle) Cowen of Battle Ground. Two sisters Nancy Cowen of Ockley and Karen Cowen of Kokomo, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and 1 nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jim Cowen.

Memorial Visitation Monday 5-7 p.m. with a Memorial Service following at 7 p.m. at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Lee Ann Tate.
