John Aldrich - Class Of 1966

John Aldrich

The family of John T. Aldrich has been notified of his death.

He was born Jan. 17, 1948, the son of Edith Aldrich and Jack Gee. He was later adopted by Henry Aldrich. In 1967, he married Jacqueline Walters, and she passed away in 1986. He married his companion of 20 years, Sandi, on March 23, 2008, and she survives.

John worked for the Carroll County REMC. He said he climbed hundreds of poles putting up power lines and knew every road in Carroll County (and he did).

John purchased Delphi Auto Supply/Car Quest after leaving the REMC. Those who knew John know he was a no-nonsense man about business. However, he was the first to tell a joke and poke fun. He helped many people over the years who needed help with a part or was stranded because of a broken down vehicle (even those who could not pay).

He loved the employees who worked with him at Delphi Auto Supply/Car Quest over the years. Jesse Kelly, Gabe Kane, Andy Kelly, Butch Benefield, Yvette Oliver and Gary Linn. His customers were friends and he appreciated their loyalty to doing business with him.

John and Sandi loved to travel and his favorite place to go was St. George Island in Florida. They began going there in 1996 and went every year, always taking grandchildren and their friends.

John is survived by his family: daughter, Ariel Aldrich Huffer (JD); stepson, Eric Isley; stepdaughter, Kimberly York (Timothy); grandson, Tristin Isley; granddaughters, Hannah Ratcliff, Chloe Ratcliff and Madyson Isley; great-granddaughter, Alia Lauren Huffer; and cousin, Karen Baer. He is also survived by sisters, Becky Hunt, Lisa Parsons and Linda Aldrich, and his children, Kelti Aldrich and Brock Aldrich.

A memorial visitation will be held today, Oct 10, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wabash & Erie Canal Conference Center, Delphi.

Memorial donations may be made to the YMCA Camp Tecumseh, 12635 W. Tecumseh Bend, Brookston, IN 47923.
