
Karen E. McDowell, 77, of Monticello, passed away early Friday morning, April 11, 2025 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital.
She was born on March 22, 1948 in Logansport to the late Harold Wayne and Jacqueline (Smith) Edging. She married Michael L. McDowell on September 10, 1967 at the Camden Methodist Church. He survives.
She was a 1966 graduate of Camden High School and a graduate of Porter Business College. She was a homemaker and worked as a secretary at the Burlington United Methodist Church for many years. She was a member of Island in the Son United Methodist Church in Texas and also the Monticello United Methodist Church. She volunteered at the Burlington library. She enjoyed dancing, puzzles, reading, bowling and cats. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; daughter, Tina (Tom) Cole of Azle, TX; granddaughter, Annie Cole; brother, Dennis Edging of CO; and sister, Cindy Myer of Monticello.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Sean M. McDowell; and her grandson, Alex Cole.
Visitation will be Friday, April 18, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Rev. Brian Beeks officiating.
Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora.
