Robert Michael Hyman

DELPHI -- Robert Michael Hyman, 62, of Delphi, died at 6 a.m. Friday, May, 28, 2010, at his home.

Born on Feb. 10, 1948, in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Robert C. and Helen L. Swaim Hyman.

A 1966 graduate of Delphi High School, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University and master's degree from Marshall University in West Virginia.

He married Kimberly Phillips on April 23, 1983, in Delphi.

Mr. Hyman served more than 20 years as the director for the American Heart Association; was a substitute teacher for 10 years; and formerly owned the Sportsman Inn at Monticello with Esther Hardy and the Hilltop Food Mart in Delphi.

He coached Pony League, Little League and girls basketball at Delphi, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf.

Mr. Hyman was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and an associate member of Delphi VFW.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Shane Hyman at home; a sister, Mary Ann Burton (husband: Bob) of Camden; and a brother, Stan Hyman (wife: Kathy) of Lafayette.

Also surviving are a niece and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and his infant son, Steven Hyman.
