Delores Johnson (Houser)

Delores A. Johnson Houser, 52, of Delphi, died at 4:47 a.m. Sept. 10, 2001, at her residence.  She had been in ill health for three and a half years.
  Born Oct. 14, 1948, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Alfred and Iva Powell Johnson.  She was a 1966 graduate of Delphi High School.
  Her marriage was to David L. Houser on Oct. 21, 1967, in Rockfield, and he survives.
  She was a customer service representative for Farm Bureau Insurance in Flora and Delphi for 14 years, retiring in December 2000 for health reasons.
  Mrs. Houser belonged to the Camden Elementary Mothers' Club for over 10 years, helping with school meals.  She formerly was a member of Extension Homemakers.
  She was raised in the Rockfield Christian Church where she was song leader and Bible school teacher for several years.  She joined the Delphi Christian Church in August of this year.
  She was a 4-H leader for 10 years.  She enjoyed camping and working in her many flower gardens.
  Also surviving are her mother, of Rockfield; three sons, Doug Houser of Sedalia, Dustin Houser of Plymouth, and Jeremy Houser of Radnor; a daughter, Jennifer Kalb of Middlebury; three sisters, Patricia Kerns of Logansport, Joy Valentino of Owasso, Okla., and Mary Jo Johnson of Lafayette; and six grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her father and one grandson.
  Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Abbott Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Paris officiating.  Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 4 to 8 p.m.  Burial will be in Paint Creek Cemetery, Camden.  Memorials may be made to the Carroll County Cancer Association.
