William Samuel Kerlin, II

  William Samuel "Sam" Kerlin II, 44, of New York City, formerly of Delphi, died unexpectedly at 2:18 a.m. Jan. 26, 1993, in Norwalk Hospital, Norwalk, Conn.  He had been hospitalized three days.
  Born July 26, 1948, in Frankfort, he was the son of William and Evelyn Hodgen Kerlin.  A graduate of Delphi High School in 1966 and DePauw University in 1970, he served as a first lieutenant in the Air Force during the Vietnam era.
  Kerlin was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in New York City and a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Delphi.  He was also a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity at DePauw and New York City Athletic Club.
  He attended Culver Naval School at Culver Military Academy for three summers during high school and returned there during his summers to serve as a tactical officer and counselor.
  Surviving are his parents of West Lafayette.
  Services will be a 2 p.m. Friday at Horn Funeral Home with the Rev. Ellis Gasser officiating.  Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery.  Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
  Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Delphi, or Delphi Public Library.
