Larry Deel

Larry Gene Deel, 65, of Monticello, died unexpectedly Tues.-Aug. 5, 2014 at 10pm at IU White Hospital in Monticello. He was born Feb. 16, 1949 in Lafayette, to the late Robert G. Deel, and his mother Grace E. Downham Deel who survives in Rockfield. He was a 1967 graduate of Delphi High School, and played football for Coach Berto, on the undefeated 3 season's team. He received his associate degree in electronics from DeVry University in Chicago. He worked for 36 years at the former Eli Lilly in Lafayette as a supervisor, retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Rockfield Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed his lake home, fishing, Purdue basketball & football, and the Indianapolis Colts. He dearly loved his children, grandchildren, and his entire family. Surviving: daughter-Angela S. Deel of Bloomington; son: Brent & Jessica Deel of Camden; mother: Grace E. Deel of Rockfield; sister: Barbara & Brad Heath of Delphi; brother: George & Donna Deel of Hillsboro; his former wife and good friend, Diane & Larry Lantz of Flora; 4 grandchildren: Andrew Lamb, Darren Hendrix, Destiney & Savannah Deel; nieces & nephews. Services: Friends may call Friday from 5-8pm at Abbott Funeral Home-Delphi. Funeral service Saturday at 10:30am, Rev. Ed Selvidge officiating. Burial Rockfield IOOF Cemetery.
