Darla M. Cowell, 70, of Royal Center, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020 in her residence.

Born on July 3, 1949 in Logansport, she is the daughter of the late Lee and Bessie (Conklin) Sterrett.  On December 14, 2002 in Logansport, she married Kevin J. Cowell who survives.

Darla retired from Myers Spring Company after working there for 28 years. She had also worked for 10 years at Woodbridge Health Campus. Darla loved traveling, reading and loved to can veggies from the garden. She had been to Germany and Paris with cousins of the James family and to Australia with her husband Kevin to visit his sister Sharon. She had also traveled to Hawaii with Joy and Tammy. Darla was a 1967 graduate of Delphi High School and a member of V.F.W. Post #3790 auxiliary.

Surviving along with her husband Kevin, are two sons, Chad (Corina) Walker, Monticello; Wade (Stephine) Walker, Logansport; stepdaughter, Jami (Jason) Godard, St. Louis, MO; two sisters, Jan (John) Riley, Burnettsville; Judi Zimmerman, Logansport; two brothers, Terry (Barb) Sterrett, Logansport; Chuck (Judy) Sterrett, Lake Cicott; three grandchildren, Kristie, Peri and Hannah; six step grandchildren, Jordyn, Darren, Sarah, Matthew, Corissa and Austin; several great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; her beloved pets Saydee and Tilly.

Darla was preceded in death by one step granddaughter, Brooke Day and one brother in law Tim Zimmerman.

A private service for family will be held at the Gundrum Funeral Home with burial held at a later date in St. John’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital.
