Pixie Chapman (Gordon)

Pixie Ann Gordon, 75, of Indianapolis, passed away at 9:30 am on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at IU Health North in Carmel, after a short battle with adenocarcinoma cancer.

Born July 3, 1951, in Logansport, Indiana, to the late Voris and Mary Jane (Smith) Chapman, Pixie was a 1969 graduate of Delphi High School and then went on to Ball State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1973. Pixie worked in retail her entire career, managing a restaurant, operated a dry-cleaning business, & retired from the Target Corporation after 20 years of service. Pixie loved the farm she grew up on in Camden, Indiana. She showed animals in 4-H as a youth and always had a pet in her home her entire life, loving cats, dogs and feeding the hummingbirds. Pixie enjoyed gardening and working the earth. She was proud of her beautiful back patio and garden. Later in life, Pixie developed a passion for traveling, going on cruises and traversing the globe with her life-long friend, Ron Runyon. She was very active and enjoyed music and dancing. She was a member of the Jewish Community Center (JCC) and The Municipal Gardens Family Center. She danced four days a week, recently performing on stage with the Sassy Seniors at the Indianapolis State Fair. She also volunteered her time three days a week at Thrifty Threads thrift store and enjoyed friendships that developed there. When she wasn’t dancing or volunteering, she could be found attending various art shows and traveling the U.S to visit her great-nephew, Dane Voris Chapman. Pixie was preceded in death by her parents, Voris L Chapman & Mary Jane (Smith) Chapman; brother Michael L Chapman and an infant brother, Uncle Leselie Chapman and Aunt Hilda Jane (Chapman) Berg. Pixie enjoyed spending time with family and hosting holiday meals. She is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 11th from 1-4pm at the Delphi Opera House, 109 S. Washington St, Delphi, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Indy Humane.
