Peggy Marie Kingery Ruckdeschel, 69, of Oxford, died peacefully on Friday- August 13, 2021, at IU Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, IN, at 1:55am.  

Peggy was born in Logansport, on October 8, 1951, to the late Phillip & Ione Henderson Kingery. She grew up in Cutler, Indiana, where she attended Cutler School until its closing, and then Carroll High School.  A 1969 graduate of Delphi Community High School, she moved to Chicago and attended Patricia Stevens Finishing School where she trained as a flight attendant.  She worked in Chicago as a secretary with Diversey Chemical and Intercraft Industries.  After years of being a housewife and mother, she returned to Delphi and was employed with Delphi Products, later becoming Office Manager at Jessup Paper and Box in Brookston for many years.  She worked in Lafayette at Three Weavers Co., before moving to Benton County to raise her granddaughter.  As a teenager, she detasseled corn at Pioneer Seed Company for a few years.

As a youth, she belonged to the Cutler Presbyterian Church and was a member of the choir.  She was very involved in Girl Scouts as a Brownie, was a Girl Scout Leader and Recruiter.  She was also involved in Boy Scouts as a “tag-a-long,” as her father was a Troop Leader and her brother a Boy Scout in Cutler.  She also loved attending Ladies Basketball games at Purdue.  She was a crafter and liked to sew and crochet.  She loved board games and card games, and she played to win.  She also loved to travel and made several trips to New Zealand.  She loved music and was an accomplished pianist.  She loved going to watch both of her brothers and their bands play at various venues.  She loved pets, especially her beloved cats.  She was kind and generous, always helping friends and family when she could.  She knew no strangers, and kept in touch with relatives, friends, and colleagues.  She dearly loved her family and spending time with them.

She is survived by her daughter, Celeste Ruckdeschel of Oxford; siblings, Jim “Weasel” Kingery of Flora, Debra Kingery Gaul (husband Jon) of South Bend, and Timothy Kingery (wife Darlene) of Delphi; granddaughters Ulairii Brooks of Fowler and Nesta Kochon of Valparaiso; great-granddaughters Sophia, Mayzie and Luna; and several nieces and a nephew.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5pm to 8pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Private family committal service will be at Ball Hill Cemetery, Cutler. Rev. Tim Stewart officiating.
