Carl died January 1, 2006. (age 71 of Delphi, IN)  He was married 49 years to Ruth Laverne Morgan Hanaway, deceased September 2004.  He was loved by all.

4 children: Carolyn Sue (class of 1974), Edward Loy (class of 1975), Cynthia Louise (class of 1976), Carl Thomas Jr. (class of 1981)

Carl T. "Pete" Hanaway, 71, of 311 N. Union St., Delphi, died unexpectedly at 5:36 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2006, while visiting his granddaughter in Jacksonville, Ark.
      Born in Carroll County on Dec., 10, 1934, he was the son of George and Louva Jones Hanaway.  He was a 1953 graduate of Delphi High School.
      His marriage was to Ruth L. Morgan in Battle Ground on June 11, 1955, and she died Sept. 10, 2004.
      Mr. Hanaway worked as a concrete truck driver for the former Rider's Sand & Ready Mix in Delphi (which was bought by Brim Concrete) from 1975 until his retirement in 1999.  He also worked part-time for Delphi Hardware Store.
     He was a member of the Delphi Community Church of God, where he taught Sunday school and was the song leader.
     Mr. Hanaway served in the Indiana National Guard.  He coached Delphi girls softball for several years and was instrumental in starting the pixie softball program.    
     He enjoyed fishing, church dartball, Purdue University men's and women's sports, and was a Chicago Cubs Baseball fan.
     Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn S. Hanaway of Idaville and Cindy Gardiner (husband: Greg) of Red Wood City, Calif.; two sons, Ed Hanaway (wife: Melody) of Delphi and Carl T. "CT" Hanaway Jr. (wife: Mary) of Lafayette; a brother, George "Tuffy" Hanaway (wife: Jan) of Camden; three sisters, Beverly Hammelman and Mary Disinger, both of Delphi, and Annie Walters (husband: Dick) of Rockfield; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
     Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home.  Services will be there on Friday at 10 a.m. Rev. Virgil Moss will officiate, with burial at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.
     Memorials may be made to the Delphi Community Church of God Youth Group.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
