Wayne Clawson - Class Of 1943

Wayne L. Clawson, 77, of Delphi, died at 4:50 a.m. on Feb. 12, 2004, in Lafayette.
  Born in Madison Township on March 11, 1926, he was the son of Leonard H. and Hannah Ridder Clawson.  He attended New Hope and Delphi Schools.
  He married Audrey L. Roskuski in Bringhurst on Oct. 31,1943, and she survives.
  Mr. Clawson was a retired farmer and had driven school buses for New Hope and Delphi Schools.
  A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served aboard the USS LST 901 in the Pacific Theater.
  Mr. Clawson was a lifetime-member of Radnor United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher, song leader and trustee; a board member and treasurer of Zion-Citizens Cemetery Association; a member of Delphi American Legion Post #75; IOOF Lodge #28; and a member of Deer Creek and former Madison Township Farm Bureau.
  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially raccoon hunting.
  Also surviving are two sons, Michael W. Clawson of Brookston and William C. Clawson of Delphi; a daughter, Teresa C. Grable of Delphi; two sisters, Leila Humberd and Kathleen Cleaver, both of Delphi; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
  He preceded in death by a brother.
  Services were Feb. 16 at Davidson Funeral Home, with burial at Zion-Citizens Cemetery in Flora, with military graveside rites by Delphi American Legion Post #75.
