Milton Bowman - Class Of 1930

  Milton D. Bowman, 94, of Batesville, formerly of rural Delphi, died at 7:42 p.m. Feb. 3, 2006, following a brief illness.
  Born April 13, 1911, in Franklin County, Va., he was the son of Tom and Emma Elizabeth Saunders Bowman.  He was married July 23, 1931, in Flora, to Gertrude N. Hylton, who survives.
  Mr. Bowman was a self-employed farmer for 30 years.
  A graduate of Delphi High School, he had resided in Carroll County for most of his life, moving to Batesville four years ago.
  He was a 50-year member of the Delphi Presbyterian Church, a member of Mt. Zion Lodge #211, F&AM, Camden, and a charter member of the Camden Lions Club.
  Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Shirley Crone (husband: Jerry) of Batesville and Jeane Swanson (husband: Ned) of Colville, Wash.; one brother, Leo Bowman of Camden; one sister, Kathlen Hatch of Carmel; six grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
  Two brothers, Hubert and Tom, preceded him in death.
  Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cree Funeral Home, Camden.  The Rev. Ellis Gasser will officiate and burial will be at Camden Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 noon to the time of the service.
  Memorials may be made to Delphi Presbyterian Church.
