Bill Perigo - Class Of 1930

Bill Perigo, 78, of Ann Arbor, Mich., formerly of Delphi, died Feb. 7, 1990, in Florida.  Memorial services were held Saturday in Ann Arbor.
  Born Sept. 17, 1911, in Boone County, he was the son of Lon and Neva Laham Perigo.
  A 1930 graduate of Delphi High School, he had been a star player on the basketball team.  He was on the 1929 team that was undefeated through regular season and sectional play, and was on the 1928 and 1930 teams that went to the state.
  He also played basketball at Western Michigan, Kalmazoo, where he graduated in 1934.
  He coached high school basketball at Markleville and Benton Harbor, Mich., and then coached at Western Michigan for three years.  He also coached at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor for eight years, retiring in 1960.  After retiring from coaching, he was Assistant Director of Student Relations at the university.
  He was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Western Michigan in 1977 was inducted into the Indiana Hall of Fame in 1983.
  Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Burrell, are two daughters, Pat Gonser of London, Ontario, and Beth Nagle of Fairfax, Calif.; a son, Don Perigo of Ann Arbor; a sister, Ruby Purdy of Sheridan; and seven grandchildren.
