She was the daughter of Wilber and Cecil Doolittle, Delphi, IN. She was preceded in her husband, James B. Sanderson in 2005. Survivors include 3 children; 6 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. After growing up in Indiana, Doris and Jim spent much of their lives in Tulsa, OK, where they raised their family. Doris was a school teacher in both Indiana and Oklahoma, as well as a golfer, political "junkie," adventure traveler, and silver life master in duplicate bridge.
