John Sheuy - Class Of 1931

John William Shuey, 86, Oak Ridge, Tenn., died Monday, March 30, 1998.
He was born Nov. 24, 1912, in Carroll County, the son of John and Martha Randolph Shuey.  He was married Jan. 16, 1937, to Esther Thomas, who survives.
A 1931 graduate of Delphi High School, he was an all-star basketball player in his youth and a member of his high school team that was inducted into the Indiana Hall of Fame.  He graduated with honors from Morehead University where he was a member of the football, basketball and track teams.
 His professional career was with Union Carbide, where he was in the health physics department for 29 years at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.  After retirement, he owned a upholstery shop in downtown Oak Ridge.
  Surviving with his wife of 61 years, are three daughters, Gwen Nuchols, and Rachel Shell, both of Oak Ridge, and Ann Thortsen of Charlotte, N.C.; s son, John Shuey, Jr., of Oak Ridge; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  A daughter preceded in death.
  Graveside services were today at Anderson Memorial Garden, Oak Ridge
