James Bundy

James D. Bundy, 85, of 662 Ben Franklin Lane, North Fort Myers, Fla., died at 4 p.m. Sept. 8, 1999, at Hope Hospice House in Fort Myers. He had been a patient there nine days and in ill health the past year and a half. He moved to Florida 20 years ago from Portage. Born Oct. 2, 1913, in Carroll County, he was the son of Warren and Mable Embree Bundy. His first marriage was to Alice Roak, who died in 1984. He then married Martha B. Duff Henderson on May 28, 1987, in Coffee County, Tenn., and she survives. He worked in the mills for U.S. Steel for more than 30 years, retiring in 1965. A 1932 graduate of Delphi High School, he was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the South Pacific. He formerly was a member of the Delphi Christian Church. He attended the Delphi United Methodist Church and the North Fort Myers United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing. Also surviving are one sister, Margaret Schymacher of Sarasota, Fla.; two stepdaughters, JoEtta Flora of Delphi and Judi Goddard of Fort Wayne; six step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one step-granddaughter and one step-grandson. Graveside services were Saturday at Masonic Cemetery with Pastor Dan Pongratz officiating. Abbott Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
