Mary Frances Dobbins (Dunn)

Mary Frances Dunn, 88, of Cicero, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. Mrs. Dunn taught Latin, English and History at Cicero High School, Jackson Central High School and Hamilton Heights High School for 32 years, and she took Latin Clubs on trips to Rome, Greece and England for several years, she retired in 1975. She was born July 21, 1914, in Delphi, Ind., the daughter of Walter and Florence (Roach) Dobbins. She was a 1932 graduate of Delphi High School and received a bachelor's degree from Indiana University in 1936. She married Morris G. Dunn Aug. 19, 1939. He died May 3, 1963. Mrs. Dunn was a member of Cicero United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Alpha Omicron Pi sorority at Indiana University and Phi Beta Psi sorority in Cicero. She was also a member of the Cicero Book Club, Cicero Woman's Club, Friends of the Library and the Hamilton County Retired Teachers Association. She was also a volunteer at Riverview Hospital from 1975-99, volunteering more than 8,000 hours of service. She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Myron Thompson of Cicero; a sister-in-law, Lula Dunn of Noblesville, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel. The Rev. Vicki Hobbs will officiate. Burial will be in Cicero Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cicero United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Hartley Funeral HOmes, Cicero, IN.
