Tom Hannell

Thomas S. Hannell, 56, 611 Yadkin St., Albemarle, North Carolina, passed away suddenly at 11:30 a.m. Thursday of last week while en route to a doctor’s office at Delphi. He had been visiting relatives at Flora. He was born July 21, 1915, the son of Charles and Lena Hannell. The World War II Navy veteran was ingot superintendent of Alcoa Badin Works at Badin, N.C., and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Albemarle. He graduated from Delphi High School and attended Butler University. He was a member of the F & AM at Delphi American Legion at Delphi and the Optimist Club at Albemarle. His marriage June 3, 1944, at Camden, was to Rosemary Ruffing, who survives. Surviving with the widow are a daughter, Mary Kay of Albemarle, and his mother, Mrs. Lena Hannell of Delphi. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Carter Funeral Home in flora. Rev. Harold McKeithan officiated and burial was in Camden Cemetery.
